Mittens for B and Z too

Description

I had difficulty with this pattern, The Unpatterned Mitten from Patternworks... didn't understand the thumb hole part correctly, so after doing a different hand top 'cause the one in the pattern gave the top of the mitten a funky looking point when I did it, I had rip it out back to the cuff & do it over again.

Hopefully I'll get it sussed out properly this time! Yes, this is my firstest pair of mittens I've ever knitted (unless you want to count the felted oven mitts i made a while back [link] [link] so that's why I'm having Troubles.

Ended up making the second one slightly larger/longer 'cause the first one didn't seem to quite fit B's hand correctly...

I also made a pair for Z as well & I swear I will never use that pattern again. Drove me nuts. Other people probably would have no problem with such an open-ended pattern but I really prefer to have every stitch spelled out for me; one day I’ll be a better knitter & get over this limitation.

Worked up with Lion Brand Wool-Ease Solids & Heathers Blue Sprinkles on four size 8 double-pointed needles. Z's was made with the same yarn but in Green Sprinkles instead. Haven't gotten a picture of his because he's already managed to lose one already! ;p

very nice! Mittens get easier once you suss out the pattern that works best for you
